Just discovered a slight problem, I discovered that I can remove the ignition key whilst engine is running. Tested the other key and it does exactly the same. Worries me that even whilst turned to accessory it does exactly the same so in theory I could inadvertently leave things turned on and flatten the battery.

Any ideas guys?

Does depend a lot on the cut of the key, if it tends to be larger at the handle end an smaller at the tip, then even a fairly new key and barrel will allow this to happen, Rick

I was going to say something tdoug but it’s a family show. :p

I’m going to test another nissan key to make sure it’s not so worn that anything will start it. Then see if I have key number anywhere or get key number from somewhere and have a plain key blade cut from that. If the key works without being able to pull it out Ill have a pair of blades cut for my flip keys. Failing all that I’ll have to source a pair of locks and keys and replace them.

If there is no security risk I think you'll be wasting your money, it would probably be easier to put a buzzer in that sounded when the door opens when the ignition is in accessory or beyond, you excel at stuff like that Jim :thumb2

Even easier to put my foot down and tell my wife I’m taking my truck back and she can have this. Mind I’d better have a clear exit when I tell her:doh
