A knuckle head looking for some advice
Got a 98 GR 2.8 6cyl.
Got a leaking oil seal on the o/s steering swivle. The knuckle ends of the axle are no longer bright and shinny but a bit corroded. Any tips?
Do the knuckle ends of the axle need to be re chromed.
Think the bearings ( king pins) are ok but I have only checked by shaking and cant find any play but it is a beast and might need more of a man than me to check.
She does have FWH
Defo aknuckle head managed to post this in mods and toys section:confused:

My knuckles are goosed too but I've not started work on my trol yet. So would suggest having a look at the workshop manual available on here :thumbs
Just search for "Workshop Manuals" you should get a thread posted by Briggie, he's downloaded all the Nissan w/s manuals on pdf for your delectation :sly
Enjoy

Here are a couple of photos of the leaky joint.

Opened it up today just about to lift swivle hub off the trunion just having to take some care getting the ABS sensor out, the inside othe swivle hub had loads of grit mixed in t=with the grease so defo need seals but what about the surfaces?

Briggie, Makefit had steered me in that direction and as a result i am well on the way to getting it stripped down.
What I cant find id the best way to treat/ dress the surface of the trunnion so it doesnt rip the new seal to bits.

I have to say thankyou for the job you have done with the manuals the download was easy peasy and made me cool about keeping the print off next to the job.

Done us a great service.:clap
Ta.
