hi all I have got a problem with the car starting or rather not upon turning the key I hear a click which I assume is the solenoid but the starter motor does not turn. a couple of times I have held the key in the start position and after a second or two the engine suddenly turns over would any 1 agree starter motor or could it be something else thanks

I am not up on Mavericks, but you could check your relays.

more like the ignition switch, new replacement is not dear, or could be solenoid on starter, Rick

Try it again with the headlights on, if they go very dim whilst in start mode, then it is probably naff battery terminals, poor connection at the terminals, or flat battery.

If they remain bright, then ignition switch.

Have a wiggle of the key while you try to start it.

If it is the fault, don't buy secondhand, buy cheap, buy twice.:thumb2

Agreed with Rick, the ignition switches are rife for dying on these!!!!!!
Mine was doing the same and the electrics were all playing up too but a good blast of wd40 on the contacts and in the barrel sorted it out a treat :thumb2

Battery trminals theres a download for that

If it doesn't turn out to be the switch and it does look more like the terminals end of things, get someone to turn it over while you hold a multimeter on the terminals and see what readings you get

I replaced both of my terminals for some real heavy duty bastards when I had my new Lucas Marine Leisure Battery :sly and smacked a load of copper grease on them and also cabled in a new wire for my starter motor as the previous owner looked as if he'd damaged the cable and had tried to weld it back together :doh
