A few weeks after buying the 'terra' the starter motor began playing up then finally went altogether.
So being a tight wad I bought a s/h one off ebay, fitted it and Bobs your uncle.
Guess what happened? A few weeks later and the starter gives up without warning. So I got another s/h one about 6 weeks ago with the intention of getting the 1 i'd just removed recon'd. Didn't get round to it but today turned the key and got the now familiar feelin of 'its not turning over, I bet the starters on its way out'. :(
So was there a weakness in the starter motors that causes them to pack up regularly?
I've sourced one brand new just 5 miles away for £95 so I think I'm gonna buy it unless anyone can recommend anywhere cheaper.
I phoned one place in Wolverhampton and they wanted £95 + vat to recondition my own unit :?

No starters or alternators come to that like water or mud - if you keep immersing them they are going to fail. Both have on mine, starter was replced with new, alternator with used as I was looking to sell it, otherwise it would have got at new/recon one.
