I Spoke too soon
"Ball Joints " or bushes on the wishbone.
Rock the car from side to side, clicks = drop links.
Clunks.... should be easier to find but you will need some help to locate the noise.
When my Mav was new it gave all sorts of squeeks.
I waxoyled every bush, joint, spring mountings, shock mountings etc.....
Solved.
NEVER ( in 16 years) has it squeeked again. and I am still on the original bushes, springs and shocks.
Only ever changed the front ARB drop links.
First time for a 16 year old.....
Rocked the Mav yesterday and there is a noise that sounds like .....eeeeeeee .... orrrrrrrrrr when I press down on the nearside.
I think it's coming from the nearside upper wishbone bush at the front, following on from my own suggestion, I put loads of waxoyl on the bush and it has quietened it down. :thumb2 so I'm in the right area.
So it could be time to replace those bushes. (Passed MOT only 6 weeks ago).
I looked at the manual FA-33... onwards and you need a press to remove the bushes, now I know some have used a BIG hammer (Got several of those)
But is there an easier way or any tips...? :nenau
Also what parts do you buy, do you need to replace the lower bushes as well?
What material is best, poly bush or rubber, now the original have lasted 16+ years and 91k miles.
Where is the best place to get them?
At 91k miles, 16+ years do you think it is time to replace them? :lol :lol
Assuming all bolts come undone easily, what time scale are we looking at per side? I have all the normal DIY mad Mechanic tools, also gear pullers, 3 leg pullers etc BUT not a bench press.
Thanks,
