My back door has started squeaking on my Terrano, at high speed its not so noticable but its really annoying at low speed.
I cant see anything obvous as to my its squeaking, even got the kids in the back while going at low speed to try and find the noise, but they have proven to be as useless as a chocolate fire guard.
Anyone else had this problem or can suggest what it might be?

wheel bracket welds broken.

do up the bolts TF and a little oil..

I think Clivvy made holes where the broken spot welds were and put self-tapping screws in

Do you mean welds on the inside door skin?
I will try tightening the botls and see if that helps, If off to Scotland on Thursday so hope the spare wheel does not fall off !

As said it's the spot welds. Years ago when this was first discovered and reported on this site the person actually drilled and bolted it. Have to say that mine does it but only when the weather gets warm, as soon as it cools down it stops making a noise.

I think it is spot welds on inside of tailgate that hold the outer skin to the frame on inside.

As the man said!
Take off the door card, immediately below the wiper motor, towards the bottom of the door, you will see where the spare wheel bracing bracket is spot-welded to the inner skin - these are the ones that fail.
I drilled mine out to 6mm and fitted a couple of M6 nuts, locking washers and bolts (you can get access to either end of the bolts).
Takes about 15 mins.

Thanks guys, will get the drill out when I get back from Scotland

Where abouts in Scotland are you?

We live in Peterborough but are travelling up to Loch Ness on Thursday as we are getting married at Urqhart Castle on Saturday.

Its around 10 hrs driving to get there so will be a good test for the truck.
