Hi,

I have an odd one here that i have tried all sorts to fix, all with no luck. :doh

My left front wiper is making a right noise on the screen, sqeaking,so i fitted a brand new set of Bosch blades thinking this will do the trick, nope still making a right noise.

It's 100% the blade on the glass & not the mechanical side of things, i have cleaned the glass & all sorts...so please please help me here, as the Mrs is about to kill me because it's driving her crazy...like a fool I said I would fix such a simple issue straight a way! :doh

Thanks folks. :thumb2

White spirits on the glass resolved that one for me!!!

Hi, over time the wiper arm twists, so the wiper has a different angle of attack compared to the angle of retreat as it crosses the screen.

I had this problem with different cars over the many years of car ownership.:augie

The solution is simple, I used an adjustable spanner on the arm as close as possible to the wiper blade and twisted it so the arm was then parallel to the screen.

Mole grips would also work, but would cause more damage to the arm.

Note... don't slip... you might crack the screen...:doh

Totally agree, have been doing the same for years.

just sorted this problem on mine. I was 100% convinced it was the wipers on the glass, but it wasn't. Liberal doses of spray grease on the mechanism and now its super quiet and smooth.

Have you tired that yet?

Like you, I was convinced mine was the wipers, I would lift them off the screen, and the noise would go away, put them back on the screen, and it would come back... Changed the wipers, cleaned the screen, you name it...

One day I had to do an emergency trip to the vets, through rain and floods, and by the time I made it to the vets, I was ready to scrap the car, and was not looking forward to the drive back home.

Once home, I took the wipers off, plus the little rubber/plastic boots under them, and with the wipers running, kept soaking the shafts in clean engine oil. I would then let the car stand for a few mins, and repeat. I kept popping out and putting more oil on it for an hour or so, then put it all back together, with some extra grease inside the rubber boots and since then, no more squeak.

Here is the post I did on it at the time.

I found the same but I found that the wiper arm pivot had worn through the sleeve and now it's loose as hell  but loadsa grease and there we are - what's the worst that can happen :thumb2

Since you buggers have mentioned wipers mine has now started to squeak. Naturally I blame sympathy pain or some such rubbish :augie

My old T2 drivers wiper used to squeak like mad as there was play on the spindle the wiper arm attached to:doh once a month or when it started to squeak again I just sprayed WD40 on it & it went nice & quiet not the best fix but it never got any worse over the 3 years I had that truck

Mine squeaked too but I had to remove the scuttle panel below screen to fix a water leak. Once the wiper arms are removed there is a rubber cap on the wiper pivots, removed the cap and squirted spray grease on to the pivot shaft which must have run down in to the bearing. Job done squeak gone.

Thank you for all the replies folks. I held back on replying for a little while as I wanted to make sure it was all good or not & come back with more info if need be.

Yeah, I did the White Spirits on the glass after you suggested it & it resolved it for a while. Sadly it crept back in this week,so after a heavy session cleaning the glass again with spirits I noticed that once that squeak had gone, that there is now a squeak from the mechanical side of the wiper rather than the blades,I think the left side.:doh I have also noticed that the wiper seems to be dragging a little on the glass & therefore kind of jumping a little.

Genuinely, this was 100% not there previously. It really was just the wiper on the glass making the noise. For example when the wiper was lifted off the glass, there was no squeak etc. I have also noticed that there is a lot of play on the right hand wiper...any ideas?

Thank you for any help folks.

I have to remove the scuttle panel, how did you do this? The fiitings dont seem to have any form of 'fitting' in them for a tool to fit into?

The rubber seal at the bottom of the screen has popped out & needs tucking in again.

Hi. You have to push the centre in, only about 5mm, then it will come out when you lift the cover. These can be reused as long as you don't push the centre right through and lose it. I have 3 philips head screws holding mine and them fasteners holding the bonnet seal underneath.

Theyre just plastic clips, think from memory just gently pryed mine from underneath. With that panel removed youll see the access to the rest of the wiper linkages, maybe a squirt of spray grease on them all.

Hi,

I'm having trouble getting the panel off, I can't get these clips to release at all. Just to clarify, I push the centre down & they release? Should I hear or feel any click when they release? Also,is it best to just use your finger or use a tool?

Thanks!

I gently pryed the panel from below the clips and gave it a wiggle to release it.

My cover came off fairly easy as I remember, just removed the wiper arms and it popped off, so easy, even Alex could do it......um, maybe not :lol
