Get some coil spring compressors, put on while car on floor. then jack
up by chassis or bumpers letting axle fall. springs should just fall out.
well rears will, front you will have to undo bumpstops first and let them
fall into spring. just watch brake lines when letting axle fall, stop if they
get too tight. may be easier if you undo one side of each anti roll bar too

fit compressers to new springs and reverse

do the springs look similar widths etc to the coils you got on it now?

hope this works, i'm gonna feel like such a wan*$r if it doesnt!!
 
Cruiser springs

Dont worry mate your not the only one Ive heard it from. 4 or 5 others. There very close in size measuered 2nite. Thanks for the change info and that patrol doc is very useful mate. Im gunna be getting myself a boost meter to start with. Thanks very much. -cheers- -wor-

Tony, don't bother with spring compressors, just jack up your Patrol and support on axle stands under the chassis.

Remove the shocks and the axles will drop far enough for the springs to drop out, just watch the flexi hoses don't streach.

I did this on my Y60 Patrol a few weeks ago and it WILL work

so I 'll have to buy axle stands and or spring compressors :?: All I've got is a hi lift and a bottle jack. :?
 
i suggested spring compressers as i couldnt think of a safe way to
rest the chassis on axle stands as they arent long enough :?

have seen some using bricks stacked up but it looks well dodgy! 8O

but if you can find stands long enough, yes, jack up under diffs, put
stands in and then lower jack letting axle fall :smile:

Not sure if you have anyone you use locally or not. I always make the trip over to discount tyres on Kippax High street (or is it Main street), Neils a decent guy and price is usually reasonable.
 
Got mi tyres done at national tyres & autocare in York. They also did my springs. Well in the end we could only fit the front ones because the rear ones are the same in length but narrower at the top. So basically dont fit. The troll from the front looks raised, the rear looks ever so slightly lower (doesnt droop tho) but from the side the car appears straight and level. I need rear springs that are 7inch wide top & bottom and at least 18inch long. Total bill for the whole job this morning was £73. Which I thought was very good in my mind. The troll rides very well so far too. Ive now got a set of 265/70 MT tyres hardly used for sale if anyones interested :?: HB I'll bring them front springs to you if you still want to try them on :?: :wink:

When you say diameter do you mean the thickness :?: There 200mm thick and 7inch wide. If you mean the measurement around the whole spring its hard to tell, but the back ones are wider than the ones already on. The front ones that Ive took off are quite narrow in comparison. Hope this helps :?:
 
I asked Frogs island last monday if they could supply me with a rear set of springs for my motor and have them here before saturday. They said yes no problem so I ordered them. Spoke to the same man at frogs (JJ) on wednesday and asked when they are likely to arrive to which he replied b4 friday. Spoke to the same man yesterday(thursday) to make sure they were on there way to which he said theyve bin sent out today be there tomorrow. Ive just put the phone down from talking to the same man today (Friday) and he said they wont be here until monday, courier problems sorry. So I said thankyou very much for your expert help (once again) and your honesty, as you know I wanted them to go to Donnington show on Sunday and have had my son waiting in the house all week to accept delivery. I got abit cross with him ! :twisted: :x -banghead- -moonie- Talk about build your hopes up and then let you down :evil: I might have a wander round their stand on sunday and listen to more bullshit :!: :lol:
