Hi guys help me please help me........
Just spent the day with my lad putting LWB springs on my swb maverick.
Springs done then wound up the torsion bars to level things out.
While at the front I fitted a couple of procomp shock extensions and took off the ARB as all the bushes were mush anyway.
Put it all down again stood back in admiration........ish.
I've got 36" ground to wheel arch all round except one back corner which is about 1 1/2" lower.
I suspect the spring but dont know why.
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the swb and lwb springs as they look the same to me.
Cheers in anticipation

Springs

I reckon the reason is (same as mine) by rights the drivers side is slightly longer at the back ??? Due to one longer rear spring. This apparently is because of the fact that most of the time the vehicle will be driven with only the driver in it. Sounds daft but Ive been told that by several sources. The longer rear spring should be on the drivers side. Hope this helps mate but thats my theory.

Hi dadba
thanks for that,I didnt notice any difference in size though!
The ones I've just taken off were new on by the last owner and I've measured both and they are exactly the same at 420mm.
Like a fool I never thought to measure the ones I've just fitted.
Guess I'll be under it again tomorrow to see how big they are...curses

Apparently they do even out. If I look closely at mine at rear wheel arches I can see a very slight difference. But stand back from the rear or front and I cant tell at all.
Ive got uprated LWB OME springs and longer play shocks on my SWB.

Urm whats an OEM uprated thingy , how much are they and where from?
Cause it may save a lot of messin about to fit them or put a spring spacer on one side!
It bothers me at nearly 2" lower on the drivers side backend.

In that case Id swap the rear springs over, but measure first to make sure one is longer. OME is old man emu (Australian). Might be just OME that make em like that not sure.

Dadba, I think you've got it sussed,I'll swap them over. Spanners at dawn it is then, cheers.

Hi makeitfit
The difference between the swb and lwb is in the spring rate not the size of the actual spring. The lwb are a stronger springs so lifts the back of the car when fitted as thay compress less.
Have you driven the car round to let the springs settle before measuring and tried turning it round and measuring in the same place.
I fitted 1" extended springs to mine, when thay where of the car thay measured the same as the ones i took off but on the car thay lifted the back 1.5"

Hi Tommo,
Yes been round the block a few times across the lanes and measured all ways.
Still comes back the same.
Where did you get your extended springs from?
Also did you need longer shocks?

They are stronger, but on the rear OME springs one is slightly longer and that one goes on the drivers side. Longer play shocks would be better with uprated springs to get full benefit. I dont know if the longer spring thing applies to all makes of springs.

Jusr checked explorer uk web site and there not showing the extended springs any more just the standard ones Lasupertrux used to do them but again there not showing them on there web site.
Not good. May be worth a phone call.

Are you certain you didn't get em mixed up when swapping em? The LWB will have less coils in. They are actually 5mm longer according to spec but springs are pretty difficult to measure, as everyones said the real difference is in the rates.

Got any piccies then? hows it look?
