Ok, drove around a big roundabout today second exit (i.e. striaght through) keeping up with the traffic (40mph area) and did a 180 facing back where I came from and very red faced!! no warning!

I can't see any diesel on the road.

Is this the norm for a ford maverick 2.7tdi swb?? Iv'e only owned it 2 weeks.

Road conditions damp, rear tires (Avon) part warn, fronts new (General Grabber). Could my diff be locked? I notice that when one wheel is jacked up I cant turn it or is this because of the limited diff? shouldn't there be some moment?

I'm all for having a bit of fun, but yikes!
 
sounds like your lsd oil needs changing do a search to find correct oil.

The tail end of the NissMav is notoriously happy, mainly because of the torque from the engine and the LSD, so you shouldn't floor it, especially on the turn, unless you want an unwelcome surprise LOL.

BUT the oil in the rear axle LSD is invariably never changed and is supposed to be refreshed every 40k miles or so....not doing so often leads to funny diff noises or bad behaviour, especially reversing.

So go and get yourself three litres of Comma LSD oil (MUST be LSD nothing else) and change it. About £6/litre from a motor factors. Its good stuff and Comma are owned by Exxon/Mobil.

i agree with that... changed mine when I got the T2 as it was doing odd stuff when reversing and was twitchy at the back too when driving, now it is rock steady (unless you are wanting to be a bit spirited then the back end is very controlled on opposite lock !!!) :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2
 
I think mine needs changing too, i'll put it on my 'to do' list :augie
 
aye, mines on the to do list as well, im very careful around the round about though when its wet...!
 
Ok I'll give the oil a change, Is the diff on these the same Viscous Coupling tech that Ford introduced on the RS Turbo to fight torque steer and was then nicknamed the Vicious Coupling. It would figure!

I do get rumbling on tight turns from the backend and it feels reluctant to turn, and stuben to move when parking.

So should I be able to turn a back wheel when jacked up? or is the LSD that stiff?

no its a clutch-pack based limited slip diff....:thumb2

well since ive had my lsd oil changed , its made a heck of a difference to road holding particularly when going round corners :thumb2

I've got a full set of Avon rangers, and I have no problems :nenau but i think there are different tread patterns and they are all called 'Avon rangers' weird but true.
