Does anyone know of a gadget that warns if you go over a preset speed. Could be an app or even a feature of a satnav or may be even a seperate device.

Skoda Yeti has this feature on the Maxidot, is it for the Roomster?

The other option, is wives are quite good at this too...lol...
:lol:lol

Haha wife nagging lol.

Sadly Ive got the cheapo green lcd display.

Found an Android phone app called Speed Watcher Free by jeffreybond, just checking it out to see what payload it has. Its an ideal tracking device for third parties so Im being a little careful. Not sure if my phone will cope with it tho. Im still saving up to change phones so my next step will be to check Apple Store too.

Most Satnavs have them these days but you have to select the option. The constant bonging drives you mad eventually.

My TomTom allows you to set a tolerance to the speed limit, then plays a sound (you set the sound) once when you go over the speed limit.

The good thing is, it only does it as you exceed the limit, e.g, if you are doing 40, and enter a 30, it will sound once. Then if you stay at 40, it will not do it again until the next speed change. If on the other hand you drop to 30, and then start to get faster again, it will then sound again.

Only problem is, the tolerance is set in physical MPH, rather then percentage, so 5MPH in a 30 is too much and you would still get a ticket, but 5MPH on the motorway can be annoying.

The really good thing is, every time you connect it to the computer it updates for motorway roadworks, so you get reminded of the dreaded 50MPH sections that catch you out so easily when they go on for miles and miles.

Sounds good does that TomTom, what model is it?

Tried the app on my phone that I mentioned earlier but it was a bit fiddley to be honest. The app doesnt change its speed setting, you have to select which is annoying and also a distraction.

double check your car doesn't have a limiter. Mine does, I simply go into the console menu and select the limiter and pre-set limit. it wont let me drive faster than that setting.

my garmin makes a horrible bonging type noise if I go over the speed limit ...... but ive turned it off :augie........ not that I ever go over the speed limit of course :augie

It's an older one, TomTom Go 740 Live.

Cheers Clive, been out and bought a Start 60 because it has a huge 6 inch screen. Bought it from Argos, paid same price as Halfrauds are doing them for and got a case too.
