Okay, going to take the plunge and buy some of these Kicker speakers for my '98 Terrano II 2.7.

Wanted to order them tonight but it's dark and cold outside so not really wanting to go out and with a screwdriver and check- I know there's a block connector, so I'm guessing I'm going to need an adapter (rather than the good old days' approach of splicing some wires and wrapping them around the connectors)? If I do, if anyone's got a part number or link that would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but I have been searching and scouring speakers for the past few hours now and my brain's getting kinda fried :banghead

Personally I'd be doing it the old fashioned way, even if and it is an if you needed to run all the way back to the head unit. No idea what they are like behind the door card but I wouldn't be stressing about splicing wires.

from memory they are two separate Lucar spades so should not be a problem, Rick

Okay, So They're In

Stuck the Kickers in this afternoon after work and, thanks to several tips I gleaned from here, everything went swimmingly.

I ended up getting some adapters off ebay (twice as many as I needed as old muggins 'ere wasn't sure whether they came in pairs, lol) and the door panels went on and off with no hitches or broken plastic lugs whatsoever.

And the speakers sound great...Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock on full volume on a test drive just a minute ago with no discernible distortion to my aurally challenged ears. I felt like a right chav boy racer sitting in the car park down the front fading and testing each speaker at full blast :augie

And on the way home I picked up all the stuff I need to take on my first oil change at the weekend... seriously not looking forward to tackling that filter...

Nice to hear it all went well for you. Got to say tho, i find my trucks so dam loud that I can't imagine a stereo won't be of much use lol.

Not been braze enough to tackle all those clips on mine. As for the oil n filter I'm sure you'll be fine. Try the ns wheel arch for access to the filter perhaps. Clean up any oil cos it will drip.

By the way what's that green moggy in the background of ya photo?

Can't hear my engine at all over these new speakers :thumbs

Regarding the clips, I just hoped for the best and went for it.

Yep, I think I'm going to try and go in through the wheel arch...I've printed out all the handy tips I've found in the threads I've searched, so looking forward to it...kinda...

Yes, that's a Morris Minor that belongs to a French gentleman a few doors down. I think it must be a future project as he drives and tinkers with a 2CV most of the time. Beyond that I don't really know much more. He's a lovely bloke and I've had many a conversation with him, but have understood relatively little...

Cool guy actually, he's always out there Sunday afternoons tinkering, bottle of red wine on the go and a Gauloise in the corner of his mouth.

Hi,
Pleased it all went well, I have found that my truck doors have very little if any sound proofing so when listening to music over a certain level it can be almost as loud on the outside. Not so good when stuck in traffic on the High Street listening to those guilty pleasures we all turn the radio up for without thinking :)
Nothing to do with Cher though, honestly :augie
Good luck with the oil change.

Phil Collins's "In the Air Tonight " drum solo does it for me lol....
A bit too easy to invert a speaker cone lol....

Ha ha...I'm guessing 'Shoop Shoop Song'?

I shall definitely bear this in mind when I'm playing my personal secret guilty pleasure CD, The Best of Betty Hutton...as much as I love her, the 'Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better' duet with Howard Keel at top blast is not going to do very much for my already diminishing street cred
