I only have one key, and it makes me feel vulnerable.:lol
I don't want to pull my fob apart without having a rough idea of what I'm doing.
Is it a easy job to change the battery, and will the fob need reprogramming?
Also, if the battery in the fob was to fail, would I still be able to get in and start the truck?
I've had a look on ebay and there's a lot of mentions about red chip or blue chip and a few other coloured chips, there used to be a standard colour for the chips I'm familiar with, followed by "would you like salt and vinegar on them".:augie
So I presume I will have to get into the fob to determine the chip colour, which will hopefully be done whilst changing the battery.
Any tips on the best way to get into it, and any idea what size battery/batteries are required? :nenau
And finally, where is the best place to get a replacement key from, without having to resort to prostitution?
It's a 2001 2.7 TD S, if this helps.
