However I just looked at the "raising the tow bar modification"
Don't even consider this in the UK or even Europe.
Tow bars now fitted to vehicles manufactured after "S" reg have to have an EU approved tow bar that is type approved not to fail under stringent test conditions and manufactured under a tight quality contol system.
Also it is illegal to add a "dropper plate" used the other way round to raise the tow bar on any UK car. It affects the stability.
Not sure how the adjustable height ones for 4x4's come into this though!!
Also a vehicle lift with bigger springs etc will also raise the tow bar.
Advise welcome please..
I had a similar problem with my Mav and boat trailer, I couldn't get the height with a "Ford" (Brink) tow bar, so I managed to fit a witter and fitted it with the bolts loose and positioned it as far up as the bolts would allow.
This did the trick without modification.
Be aware that a modified tow bar may invalidate any insurance.
