In the car park of Sainsbury's in Bolton and have come to start the car.
And nothing....
Key turns and lights come on, glow plug light goes of and I try to start and nothing. Not a sound.
I believe it might be a key fob issue, but what the hell is it as I'm currently stranded..
Any help appreciated

No iodea about fobs n that but is your key a bit sloppy in your hole ?
The ignition switch can fail and it's worth a bit of a wriggle around with it .
Next thing check your starter motor cable is sound and fat cables on battery etc.

I had the same problem a couple of years ago, turned out to be the ignition switch. Fiddly but feasible to change, about £32 from Nissan, may be a bit cheaper from Ford. In the short term, try turning the key very slowly, sometimes works, or failing that a bump start.

as all your lights and glow plug come on I would suggest the the small solenoid wire on the starter may have come off, it is not that uncommon, if so just push it back on, through the wheel flap, for access, Rick

As above mate

Ignition switch seems more probable, fiddle with it and you may get luck and get it to turn over

Failing that bump/tow start might get you going, presuming that it's not an immobiliser issue as that will leave the fuel pump dead still not providing any fuel

Tha cavalry are coming in the form of a local garage/ recovery service.

immobilizer fault still allows the starter to turn, Rick

Ignore my last comment, it's just clicked what you were getting at

Rick is right, get in the wheel arch and make sure your terminals are good on the starter

hope you tried turning the key real slow.......hope you get sorted.

My patrol would not start the other day just beeped at me turned out the fool behind the wheel had left it in reverse, moved lever to park and it started at once.

Just a thought if it is automatic

Russell

'Twas indeed a borked starter.
I'll have a play around when I have a bit more time, but I think a replacement might be on the cards. :(
Thanks all.

if it was not making a distinct ed click then it may only be the solenoid, these can be replaced, Rick

First opportunity I've had to get things sorted, but we have a diagnostic winner. :thumbs
