In my area they only grit and clear certain roads.

The roads which have not been done are very slippy with compacted snow thats frozen too. Pretty deadly.

What part is he going to?

not got a clue what newtown is like, its quite far away. I'm guessing the roads are fine as it hasn't snowed here since a good few days.

according to the bbc they are going to have snow this afternoon and that the temps are around -8

Its north and east of you Fez.....on the way up from Builth towards Shrewsbury. Personally I'd be wary up there even in a 4x4, its as hilly as feck and even in normal conditions the traffic is crap.

I know where it is. :lol

I meant I don't know what the weather is like there.

Its not that hilly. You need to go slightly more south west where I live, thats hilly .

yes but hilly enough that car drivers will be doing their usual spastic manoeuvres in this weather - tossers:doh

the road up to us from Llandovery is crap, and parts of Cilycwm and Rhandirmwyn are still cut off - wife just told me the Citylink bloke (who we do a lot with) arranged to meet her in town today to collect a couple of parcels for us and 3/4 more that she dropped off in Cilycwm in the T2.....I do love it when 4x4s (even with a lady driver!) rule :thumb2

Forecasters Warning

Snow, Frost and Ice

Areas Affected:
Snow- Mainly coastal areas in the north and east, but also parts of Ireland, Wales, the Midlands, northwest England, eastern England and inland areas of East Anglia.
Frost and Ice - All regions

Valid: Until 23:59 Thursday 23rd December 2010

This is an update to the Severe Weather Warning that was issued by Metcheck on Wednesday 15th December, this update issued at 13:03 on Tuesday 21st December 2010.

The current cold spell is expected to continue over the next few days with widespread, sharp night frosts bringing widespread icy surfaces.

Further snow showers will continue to affect coastal areas in the north and east during the next 24 hours, bringing further accumulations of 5-10cm in places, particularly across northern and eastern Scotland.

Meanwhile, there is the potential for outbreaks of snow to develop over parts of Ireland, Wales, northwest England, eastern England, the Midlands and inland areas of East Anglia later on Tuesday and into Wednesday. Much of the snow will be on the light side, but some heavier outbreaks may result in accumulations of 5-10cm falling in some areas.

With temperatures falling well below freezing by night and struggling to rise above freezing during the day, widespread icy surfaces can be expected, especially on untreated areas whilst snow will bring further disruption with it.

These wintry conditions will make for hazardous travelling conditions, so please allow extra time and take extra care if you are travelling during this period. Please check with the Highways Agency for further advice regarding traffic disruption on main roads.

This Severe Weather Warning will be updated tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd December 2010.
