Hi all

Im looking at having a snorkel on my maverick. my only issue is......

Do i have a nissan navara D22 snorkel kit and make it fit?

OR

do i make myself a home made one?
If i was to make myself one whats the best thing to use and whats best way to do it?

Thanks

dan

There area lot of threads on this and some interesting solutions, have a search and see what you come up with :thumb2

Cheers. just been having a look through but havent seen much on people doing the D22 navara snorkel?
I think it is going to be a diy snorkel

just noticed you're in derbyshire too, where abouts?

Build your own tbh

But yes there are loads of different ways to do it

hate to be the one to say it but also make sure your insurance company will be ok with it. :thumb2

The D22 Navara one looks awesome but very pricey to find but worth it I suppose if your looking for that OEM look, if anyone has got one going cheap I'm interested :D

I exchanged email with them about 6 months ago, it's a good bit of kit, but u still need to modify it to get from inner wing to your air box

I ended up doing mine from silicon hoses and Ali pipe, which IMO is stronger. It was about £100

Did you manage to write up a guide?

Use edge gasket around the hole in wing, after you treat the edge with paint, to neaten it up

Do away with the stock airbox and fit an eclosed induction kit, you might need to gaffer tape top and bottom a few times round to make water proof

I put a D22 on my Maverick.

Its not hard to do, but you do have to do a little mod to the air box.

Have you done this yet? as the post is a little old.

If not let me know i can give you the photos to help you out.

Wouldn't mind some pictures :) as the misses is buying it for me for my Birthday :D

I will sort it out when i get home, as i can not ge to the account i need from work.

First, line the snorkel up on the wing. You should of got a template, i did not have one so i did it by eye. Mark out where the hole is going to fit and open the door to make sure it wont catch on the snork, then remove the wing. I found it better this way, you may be able to leave it on, but id take it off.

Cut the hole in the wing and then mark out the bolt holes (Like i said i had no template, you should get one) drill the holes and fit the snork into place.

Once bolted into place hold it to the truck to find where your going to need to cut a hole to fit through.

Then remove the airbox and cut off the section that fits into the front of the wing. Then either weld a plate over or pot rivit it and seal it.

Now the only photo i did not take was the new hole on the air box.

You need to cut a hole and weld a new section on, i used 3" stainless steel thats used for exhaurts, you only need about 4". as too much and you will run out of room. Then get some flext pipe (Ebay) to fit through the wing and onto the new 3" pipe. so it looks like this.

I also put some rubber round the wing edges to stop it cutting into the flexy tube.

As its for a D22, you will have some bits that you wont need, so dont look for where they go, :lol You only need the main body and the scoop. (And the nuts and bolts.

I have not fitted the door mounting either as i did not get one.

This is the end result

DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO GO IN TO THE REAR OF THE AIR BOX AS IT WONT WORK. YOU WILL END UP BYPASSING THE AIRFILTER IT HAS TO GO INTO THE SIDE OF IT.
Hope this helps.

Or get an enclosed induction kit like I did, to replace standard air box
