Because there a lot of experts over here who are able to tell me the pro's en con's of both to make my choice easier:

I'm considering to mount either a snorkel or a filterkit to my Terrano to increase a bit the power. After consulting the forum, I was thinking of mounting a filterkit (the K&N 57-0125 for about € 100), but as it cost about 1/3 of snorkel, there is doubt. Is it true that a snorkel (if mounted correctly and with the right filter and air-intake) also can increase power?

I'm not thinking of diving with the car as it is my daily ride and I don't fancy cleaning it after diving in a mud-put. What I will do with the car is taking it to hotter and sandier areas and I have read that in these areas, a snorkel improves the ride. Is there a great difference, or will a filterkit do as well?

If anythig a snorkel will reduce power except possibly at high speed where there MAY be some element of ram effect, but the increased inlet length and associatted restriction in breathing will negate most of this effect. A good filter is always worthwhile.

Simons right & snorkels do reduce power due to the length of the pipe, they only gain on motorways.
The only way to get clean cold forced air to the turbo is a alloy pipe from the turbo to the grill or bumper.
But you will never be able to give a turbo the air it requires anyway.
The question you should be asking is weather or not your going to go swimming.?
If no,then a filter kit.
If yes,then a snorkel.
Bearing in mind that these are diesel 4x4's the power increase is minimal imo.
A filter kit needs a good cold air supply which is not easy on the Terrano.
Better off leaving it standard with a decent replacement panel filter. i.e. K&N or Green Cotton air filter.
