Snapped a wheel stud

I was trying to get the locking wheel nuts off. I tightened up the other nuts first thinking it should relieve some tightness, before bashing a 19mm socket on the locking nut. Then this happened :doh followed by lots of bad language

How do I go about repairing it? Will it be ok with 5 for a bit? :nenau

Youre lucky could have been front one rears are easy just take off the brake drum and knock it out

Yes 5 is OK but keep the speed and heavy cornering down, it is on the rear so if I remember correctly just knock it out and and pull in a new one but you may have to take the brake shoes off, cannot remember, Rick

:lol no worries bud. I got 2 of the locking nuts off. just thought it'd give it a better chance if I could tighten the others around it.

What stops it coming all the way through? Is their a 'head' on the stud that stops it pulling through the drum as the wheel nut is being tightened

Yes, the end of the stud you can not see has a "Cheese" head on it, and the shaft immediately below it is splined, and sometimes slightly tapered as well.

Get them from Nissan dealer, believe it or not they are cheaper than the ones on ebay. I know because i broke 2

As I have posted before, when fitting new studs, check their tightness of the wheel nuts regularly, as they bed in they will become slightly slacker.

Front and rear studs differ in length
