My drivers side electric window is slow, but just going up. Any easy fix's?

Or how much for a replacement?

Thanks

Could just be stiff, need lubricant a long the runners etc, If the motor is tired, then a replacement is about £30 to £60

Open window and spray wd40 up and down the runners, clean excess of with rag, try window

Repeat until free

What lubricant is best, mine are getting slow too?

I have some silicon oil for rubber, any issues with that.
Don't want to use vaseline as it might attract grit.

I guess if that doesn't work, some grease on the mechanism, means taking the inner door panels off though.

Not a big job, but easier in the summer..

i just used to squirt a bit of wd 40 down the runner , but beware , it ends up on the glass and is a pita to get off without smearing , ive heard some use silicon spray , sometimes the cantilever thingies in the door need lubricating too

Best thing is the spray you can get for putting a shine on your interior plastic - it's silicone. Just spray a good squirt down each side of the window so that it runs to the bottom. Did it with mine two years ago, no problem since.

as said, get a decent 3 in 1 silicone lubricant. thats what i usedon mine, they were so slow, they almost stopped. I removed the door trim, and very liberally spray 3in1 all over the runners, motor wires etc etc, now its as quick as it ever was:thumbs

Cheaper Furniture Polish usually contains enough silicone to do the job. Open the window and spray direct into the rubber channels and let it run down them.

Some good idea's thanks. I'll try tomorrow. Supposed to be -10 degrees tomorrow though!

exactly what i did to all of mine in the summer still working like new

Rub a candle up and down the edges of the glass - wax doesn't make a mess and doesn't dry up or attract dirt. :thumbs
