Just ordered this from eBay

Done a bit of research and seems to be the best of all the ones I've been looking at within my budget. It attaches straight to the body of the truck and can be bent down and adjusted 45 degrees if so needed whilst following Elty so it doesn't end up in the bush :lol :lol

The best bit about it which appeals to me as I love a gadget :lol When you are transmitting the body of the aerial glows Green

Glowing antenna can only mean power output loss, Rick

Yep but if they’re only transmitting over short distances probably won’t make too much difference.

Still be interesting how it performs on the vehicle when driving down lanes, bent several antennas myself.

In the old days, we all ran DV27's and there was a little red Neon light you could put on the top, that would glow when ever you transmitted... In those days, they were called "Wally lights".

We regularly used to hold 2ft florescent tubes on the top and light those for fun.

As Rick said, it does pinch your power, and the brighter it is, the more power being lost. It only works on 5/8 or 3/8 aerials, which were in those days, actually illegal, so you gave yourself away to "Mr Buzby".

My DV27 was the best twig I had until now.
Really suited the vehicle for performance and, after working hard to acquire a good ground plane, was the first time I achieved zero reflection on my SWR. :thumbs
I've gone through a couple of Sirio twigs, and currently using a 2ft Firestick.

You beat me to it with the wally light, those were the days, we used to do fox hunts with 5 or 6 cars, one would go and hide and the other find them, wasn’t to difficult when you got close cos you could see the wally light :clap:lol
