My maverick seems to be sinking! I can hear gallons and gallons of water IN the chassis or sill area maybe. Especially obvious on the rt side.
Any ideas?

8O drainage holes you say 8O
Any idea where I can find them for a good poke?

I remember a previous thread from quite some time ago regarding this, have a search around. If all else fails you may be able to drill some drain holes but that will then make that point vulnrable to rust.

if i remember isnt the drainage holes in the front door area when the doors are open is it in the section by the front wings?

if I remember right the drain holes are just in front of the rear wheels

Thats where they was on our mk1 mav.

On the sills on the inside edge there are square'ish holes running the length of the sill these can block up with muck & a good poke/rake out with a cable tie should work

Sweety's right to suggest using a cable tie as it's plastic and shouldn't cause damage like anything made of metal.

Brill. cheers guys after todays downpoor I've been mainly driving through some proper deep water. Mostly on the main road too. This bl@@dy global warming's not all it's cracked up to be!
So tomorrow morning I'll be in my wetsuit under me sills havin' a good old poke around.
May even get a few more MPG!

take off the front mud flaps. the cavity there will be blocked by mud.

hose it out.

as said if you remove panel on foot wells were bonnet release is the water that escape will raise up and into the car here. the drain hole may appear free but there will be the crude higher causing the issue.

this happened to me when we had the floods june 07. wasted alot of time
taking grill off under screen thinking leak was there on bulkhead but bone
dry.

Ah I may have caused myself a problem there then. I've taken the original little mud flaps off cause they broke on some rocks. So I've fitted some huge 4mm silicon mud flaps. I riveted and tiger bonded these in place?
Due to the bigger wheels I'm running I also "modded" the metal work first.
Seemed a good idea at the time.
So will the cable tie option still clear enough drainage I wonder?

I would think so  they are just behind the lip on the sill & the holes are about 10mm long.
We've just had a road closed tonight because it's flooded (1ft deep) 8O 8O 8O & in the middle was a drowned taxi 8O So I had to have a go at making my 1st bow wave & ended up washing the front end of a cop car

Just seen on the welsh news a guy being AIR LIFTED out of his Jeep!!!!!!!
Should have gone to shame savers "nissan" the water was only a couple of feet deep .
The bow wave on mine earlier removed my number plate and conked one indicator.
So now I'll need some bigger screws and a new bulb and some cable ties
So sat morn sorted :?

hi,

i reckon i t accumilates in this areaby getting behind the liner, which has
to be moved to. it probably goes in as a soup but dries there.
as it builds up eventually doesnt drain thru the sediment. or small
amounts will but major downpours either road spray or down off the
screen cant penetrate the soil plug, yes mind was solid by then so has
to move sideways into car.

you will also get a wooshing sensation from water in the main sill which
only drains to little holes in leading edge of rear arches, again prone
to blocking from muck deposited by wheel spray.

on mine it will show as a wrt patch on the side steps, or even on the road
if left to stand. enough for neighbours to think i had a coolant leak! apart
from fact didnt tast of antifreeze!

btw the carpet was well soaked and was leading to increased misting up
of windows. think sweety had same problem and had to cut out the
underlay insulation to dry, otherwise if severe the carpets will need to
come out. i used a vax on the carpet and then on the insulation and got
most of it out.
