after sorting out the water issue i went and had a look at some rot in the off side rear arch just infront of the wheel.

well a small bit of rot has turned into a bigish bit of inner sill rot at the back my plan was to make up a patch and weld it in place but none of my mates has a welder i got rid of mine years ago a decent one will prob cost more than paying some one to do it soooooooooooo does any one know of any good welders/fabricators down south, south london preferably but happy to travel for some one good.

if not im off shopping next week for a new welder, grinder and some sheet metal

Just bite the bullet and buy one now. For what your going to spend on someone doing it for you you could have your own. I had to get some done last week cos i cant weld for toffee and it was seat belt mounts, so they had to be good. It cost me £100 and that was mates rates too.

have you took the plastic arch liner off to look deeper. Not sure of your t2 year but i've welded my arches up near the bottom sill as there were to holes the size of 40mm ish letting in water.

not from driving

the water getting into the sills im sure is caused by rain water from the sunroof channels think i read on here they drain into the sills its not water getting in from driving use. i move the car off the drive each morning parking it facing uphill to get my bikes out after a bit of over night rain, water runs out of the sills from the rot iv found. it couldnt drain out from the front cos of all the mud n crap behind the plastic cover.

think your right tho maybe best to just get a new welder to use on the old girl whats annoying is the other side is like new gonna have a good look at the seat belt mounts to just to be sure.

the big question is arc or mig ? gonna have to do this out side so proberly arc or gasless :doh

I prefer Mig with gas, you may want to have a look at the front inner wings as well, good chance that you will find a few nasties there:augie
Did 2 Land Rover series rebuilds with my mig outside
