Ive just got a 2005 shogun sport after killing my T2 and apart from the gear ratio I think there fine :thumb2

Aren't they the same as the Pajero. With the soft ally heads?

hi glen had shogun 2.8 auto loved it running cost :doh 04 shogun more complicated its 04 fix what needs doing and should be fine but running cost will still be high 04 terrano the way to go mate :thumbs

Different kind of beast, Shogun Sport is actually based on the L200 pickup but with rear coils instead of leaf springs :thumbs

Tbh my '95 2.8 Shogun was fine and I only really sold her as I really fancied a Trol. A '04 Shogun is a big difference though as that's when they switched to monocoque instead of a ladder chassis and all round independent suspension instead of solid rear axle and front independent like the Terrano. That's also when they started using the 3.2 engine.

It's a bit more of a softroader than the Terrano but should be pretty reliable once all the issues are fixed :nenau

My brother ran a 2.8 90's shogun for years, very thirsty, but was a good machine.

My mate brought a 2004 shogun and it broke down on the way home, I advised him to take it straight back to the garage and get his money back. The rose tinted specs got in the way, he then spent a few more grand on it...head gasket went and he ended up putting a new head on it and having the block skimmed :doh
He sold it soon after as it was not reliable for towing his caravan.

had a lwb 2.8td shogun ..... for about 3 months ...... during that time it had 3 head gaskets

The newer shoguns are a lot better on fuel as they have the 3L engine infact I think the MPG is better than the T2. I did look at getting one but wanted an auto but after finding out they often need the auto box rebuilding at 80-100K & it's big money so scraped that idea:lol

It should have 4H & 4L with super select which I think is you can pop it into 4WD on the move on road as i'm sure they have a centre diff fitted with diff lock (not for road use) think some had a rear diff lock depending on model

That's the one thing the Shoguns do have - the Super Select 4wd System...

4 positions on the transfer lever-

2H
4H (centre diff unlocked) - means you can run 4H on tarmac
4H (centre diff locked)
4L (centre diff locked)

Great system, although in the older Shoguns there was the risk the vac pipes to the centre difflock could go...

Yeh early models had a rear difflock then they got rid of it for traction control :doh

Brother shogun

Shogun sport Near Hand brake in middle consul a switch a Y symbol with a line in middle like a Arial anyone know what it is or what it for ?????

Glen

Ahh Shogun Sport, not bad trucks, like I said L200 based, front independent suspension and solid rear axle with coil springs. No locking diff in the rear but I think they have a limited slip. No centre diff. Very much like a Terrano :D

Not sure about the switch but maybe for extending/retracting an electric aerial? :nenau

These guys might be able to help http://www.pocuk.com/forums/index.php
