So I thought I know! I'll go driving in the snow:D ... Headed up to buckstones A640 cos there's a nice lookout where I can have a Bavarian slice I just bought and a polystyrene tea.
Was going nicely along a snow covered Rd,but when I got to the top the carpark was too deep, but ah I'll just turn round cos its drifted. :doh SHEET IM STUCK . lonely place up here. starts panicking like you do:eek: upto the axles in snow . puts me gloves on cos of course I've no shovel. :augie cleared it best I could but no joy.
Old boy in a nice black SWB DID Shogun let me hook on his ball (oo er ) and pulled me arse out.
Didn't get chance to thank him much though, I just put rope in my boot and he was off like. Anyway that's karma for all the folk I've towed out. :thumbs
No chance to take any recovery pics or the beaches terrano but here's the bit I did get stuck in.

oh yeah nowt worse than being towed out.

I don't think you have got a handle on posting things on this site have you.:doh

You're not supposed to say that you were stuck and pulled out by anything other than a Nissan ( Ford Mavericks acceptable too).

If you had claimed to have been pulled out by a green oval... shame on you... then I would be appealing to the moderators to remove the entire post, due to inappropriate content.:lol:lol

So how much snow can we get through then? on a good day that is..

EDIT: the other excuse of course to use in a situation like that is.....

My auto hubs have stopped working..... Can you believe that... hmmm
best regards,

Rustic

hmmm are u sure this wasn't some terrible nightmare that just seemed real?

:)oh right, fair do's. Come to think of it maybe I forgot to move the little stick :thumbs

mods feel free to edit or whatever.

nightmare.. yes it was, That feeling of spin spin spin is a nightmare.
some of you more experience off roaders would probably have got out. I just kept throttle on hoping something would happen.:augie
feet are in front of the fire now, i'mhome safe, better not tell the wife she thinks you can't get stuck in the green tank.

u best put some old carpet and planks of wood in the back before venturing out in the snow again :lol :lol

shovel would of got you out.

You get more worried when it's dark, pissing down and your winching a mate out with a double line winch pull on and 5 ton strap with another vehicle behind the winching vehicle holding it back.

5 ton strap breaks

Oh and lightning a few miles away.

Cracking day out that was Fez :)
In the snow keep the revs down and the gears high. As said a shovel is essential. A few bits of old carpet. Then you can also drop tyre pressures as a last resort. (unless you carry tyre pump)
It's all a learning curve mate. Wish we had some more snow #(

To what level say 15 psi:nenau:nenau

I carry a cheap pump, but it would take ages to get the pressure up on 4 wheels.

So which tyres are best to lower first then try?:nenau

If it's a case of stuck and walking out, I'd drop the rear tyres and start at 15 but readily drop to 10psi. Slow motion wont cause a rim spill :thumbs
Then later have a warm up with your foot pump :lol I'll sit in the truck with the heater on while my electric pump does the work for me :sly

And the big thing a lot of people forget (besides shovel carpet etc) is what tyres
has my truck got on :nenau off road, all terrain, snow, or just plain old road tyres. I've notices a lot of Range Rover Drivers do that by the way. :doh

Also depends what kind of snow  Sounds daft but true. If you get a chance to drive on fresh powder snow, then road or snow tyres will be fine. Once it's been compressed a bit then no matter what you've (short of spikes) you're going to slip

Tyres, Kuhmo road venture AT on the back and Vigor Zeetex? on the front. The vigor are better than the kuhmo... saying that kuhmo have about 3mm left. Im saving up for some nice boots.

Do watch it, when you have mixed types of tyres in the snow, I put a brand new pair of snow tyres on the front drive wheels of my V70, but as the rear standard tyres were fairly new, did not bother with them.

I know it will be a bit different with a 4x4, but twice the car spun round in the snow, where the front tyres did their job, and gripped nicely, but the back tyres failed to grip, and decided to slide past the front ones... Now I make sure I put the same on all four wheels, regardless of what wheel drive it is.
