shocks and spring question

hi guys i have a lwb 2.7tdi x reg so 12 yrs old how best to test if i need shocks or new springs when i have people in the rear seats it seams quite harsh ride from the back i tow a tin tent too but i will apologize for that 1st :augie i do light off roading green lanes no pay n play sites im too tight for that green lanes in devon r free and plenty of them:thumbs

the old fashioned bounce test is what I use, (used to be a MOT one) press and release a corner of the motor it should only bounce once then settle, it is not a complete test but a guide, Rick
