Although my T2 passed its MOT this week  front end is decidely 'floaty' I'm guessing all the shocks are original at 113k miles so probably well past their best, have seen Monroe Gas shocks on ebay which is a name I know and trust at £75 front pair and £85 rear pair, with 2 year warranty. Having found out today when the log book came back that it has been written off previously  ( theres always a reason for a car being cheap!) Dont want to spend too much money on it but potentially falling off the road with 1600kg of caravan on the back doesnt appeal either!
How does that sound price wise? any other recommendations on manufacturer/suppliers at decent prices... not intending any 'serious' off road use just a little light green laning and lugging kids and caravan and all the other junk we have to take with us!

Thanks in anticipation of your worldly wisdom....

Chris

Pro-comp. Go to the downloads section from t homepage we get a good dicount from them, they will be cheaper than monroe and have a lietime guarentee which ny all accounts the honour on a no quibble basis.

I would go for a set of Pro Comp shocks (I will be when they are needed) as they are surpossed to honour their warrenty like HB has said

Many thanks guys... just had a look at the pro comp prices and they seem to be very very reasonable  Certainly cheaper than what I have seen on e-bay and just reading through the list I get the feeling I can almost design what I want and they will make it... or discuss what I need and they can advise me might work better  To top it all they are about 6 miles up the road!!!!!!!!!! aint it nice when a plan starts to come together... I feel my Terrano development plans starting... and when it rideas and steers better it will just be needing a bit more go

Will give pro comp a ring.. thanks again

Chris

Not got any stock yet  He's been telling me he would get stock for the last 3 weeks. I ordered mine, I was told they were in stock, paid my money and guess what no stock

Have phoned a couple of times and was told stock coming in on 20th Monday, phoned today to see if they've shipped and guess what no one to answer phone

I hate when someone takes my money and no stock I'll wait another couple of days then I'll be getting my money back as I'm waiting to change springs and shocks.

Oooh Dear.... would you like me to go knocking on his door Jocky??
Thats not sounding too good, just off to check wheter my card has been debited...

Ask him again when he says he's getting stock.

I'll phone again and see what he tells me, if the phone gets answered????. Then I'll decide what I'm going to do as I need these by tuesday.

Tried phoning again yesterday and today and there appears to be a line fault 8O

I've also had no reply to numerous emails

I'm starting to smell a rodent

This is not looking good. 8O
Was thinking of getting some from here, me thinks I will keep my money for now.

Paul.

If someone is going up there in person could they pick some up for me please, with current goings on am loath to order from them over phone/online. I don't want the standard ones so they might have stock. Will pay carriage costs etc to get em over to me or fuel costs and meet up - whatever is best.

Simon.

Sorry Guys... if your waiting to order Pro Comp shocks your too late... gone into receivership and vacated their offices at the address on their website...

After the pro-comp disaster went back to ebay and ordered the Monroe shocks at £167 a set... arrived day after phone order 8)
Fitted yesterday and discovered why the ride had been so bad... offside rear no damping at all... Nearside rear only had 1" of movement then solid.. solid enough to have bent the upper mounting point 8O
Fronts were both really soft too so now it feels rather better! Rear suspension actually works now and the front not bouncing around all over the place so I'm happy now  Now I have a ride thats perfectly acceptable and I know why it was bad before so thats cool..
On removing the originals they have Monroe/Nissan stamped on them but the new ones are much larger diameter than the originals and are badged as 'Adventure 4x4'
Lets hope I dont need the 2 year guarantee!!

Chris

Nice one

Changed my springs today and found rear shocks on the trol nearly useless, no resistance,8O as were the rear springs

Front shocks are fine

Haven't decided which ones to get after the explorer disaster

Will probably get rears from Milners tomorrow as I can't afford a full set just yet. 8O

I'll keep you posted
