Hi all, So i have just recently got myself a Terrano and want to give it a good service as i am unsure about the service history.

Anyone know what are the main things I would want to be doing?

Are there any problematic areas that i should know about?
is there a timing belt/chain on my model (2000 Terrano II SR 2.7)

Any info is greatly received!!

Cheers :)

hi!

ok, no timing belt, its gear driven, so nothing to worry about there.

problems are MAF, No1 injector, Fuel filter. Forget No1 injector for now, and dont worry abotu MAF if the power is good and it revs past 3k. Fuel filter-buy a good quality one, cheap ones dont seal correctly thus letting in air.

Change all oils, so thats engine, gearbox and rear DIFF (LSD), ensure correct LSD oil is used in that DIFF. Buy a decent air filter, i added a direct replacement K&N (£30 ish) and you have a notable improvment and youll never have to change it again.

fill up your washer fluid, give it a clean and go for a dive, theres really not much to these cars.

if you want to get fussy, check the steering stops and apply a large lump of grease if they look worn, change your front pads if low, and discs if pitted. adjusting handbreak / rear breaks is a bit more involved but there is a tutorial availabl in the downloads for this.

check coolant using a proper coolant checker- i almost got caught out this winter but got away with it-coolant mixture wasnt quite right so i suffered from partially frozen system. check engine runs at correct temp-should be between 1/4 and half way, and generally wont climb much higher than that, make sure the heaters blow hot after about 10-15 mins, if not, check thermostat.

and thats to be fussy...:clap

Brake and clutch fluid, I've just done mine, you will need 1.5 litres of Dot 4.
Change it if the colour is dark, or every 2-3 years as it absorbs water.

Check anti roll bar links on the lower front wishbone.

Grease your Prop shafts, 2 on the rear for the UJ's 3 on the front 2x UJ's and 1 on the sliding part.

Thanks a miilion for the great advice. i bought some quality oils and filters locally and put them in/on. there's not much to do it as its running mint. replaced some fuses and bulbs also including fog light bulb!
anyways thanks again!!
