Never previously had the need to select low ratio, I found I couldn't seem to do it - the lever was very stiff to move to 4H, but I managed. when I pressed down and pulled the lever back, the green 4WD indicator went off and I had no drive. All advice welcome!

Between High and Low the lever goes through a neutral (out of gear space) it then moves into Low. so you have H-N-L this neutral is not obvious as you normally just pass through it on your way from High to Low. You do need to push the lever in before you pull it down. Hope this helps, regards bri

Don't forget you have to be stationary to change in to Low box too. For good measure I always do this....

Stop Car with handbrake on.

Main Gear lever in to neutral and take foot off clutch.

Select Low box (mines pretty easy other than having to push down).

If your using the auto hubs then set off slowly, try not to stress the hubs as they engage. Don't use 4WD H or L on a hard surface.

Yes as Jim says, set of slowly as the auto hubs come in you can hear a clunk, or a BANG if to quick with clutch which is probably when the rings get broken. Once the hubs are in then everything is locked, until you reverse with the lever set to two wheel drive. regards bri

Yes I have the car stopped and push lever in and pull back, and in neutral, Is it that I am trying to select it by pressing the clutch in that it doesn't light the 4wd indicator? Is there a light that says 4L rather than 4H?

It's the same indicator light for both, it's just a 4wd light. You shouldn't need to press the clutch. Just checked mine now.

Pull lever back and it goes into 4H, then press lever down and pull back to go into N. Then a slight press down and pull all the way back till the lever almost catches on the console for 4L.

Just been outside to try mine.....Hi/Low lever. top position +2 wheel drive no light . pull back to 4 w high 4w light comes on, pull lever back into the neutral the light goes OFF, PUSH LEVER AND PULL BACK INTO 4L AND THE 4W LIGHT COMES ON. had difficulty getting into 4 low with engine stopped. bri
