I think it was rick that did this?
Im thinking Ive done all summer without aircon and its been ok.
So Im thinking of ditching the air con completely and fitting the second alternator to power day light lighting and a winch.
how straight forward is it.
is there a link with a how to?
I will have enough room to fit another battery when the snorkel is fitted.
Idid not want to go down the road of a spilt charger as they arnt from experience good enough.
will I have to get a terrano alt or will any do?
if I fit a terrano alt will I have to change the pullys or make a bracket to get the pully of the alt in line with the air con wheel.
does that make sence?
steve

if you put a 2nd alt down where the aircon was its going to be very ow down and subject to getting very wet and muddy = wont last long

you can get some very high amp split charge systems! But I think it was Rick yes! and possibly Makeitfit :thumb2

wasn't ryan going to do something similar ? :nenau

Unless your doing heavy and long winching there is no need.

I've never had any issue with my split charging system.

good point. my aircon is plastered in mud.
maybe a mud shield?

then you have problem of airflow, tbh a good split charge system will do the job for a winch and drl's dont use much power anyway especially if you use led ones

yes I have a second alternator 90 amp Bosch, and I need it, it works very hard when I am winching as does the winch, I have had to remove the 150 amp thermal cut out on the main winch feed as it was continually tripping, I now test the motor temperature from time to time, but as I say my winch gets used lots, cos I stick myself in the mire, it is what it is all about, Rick
