Today I am going to start removing my old seats from a 1996 Mistral with half leather seats from a 2001 Terrano.

If the seats don't fit perfectly I will be in trouble, as I am not a mechanic and no knowledge of cars what so ever (even if I removed my dash 2 weeks ago).

I will start today, and will live it later as I will be gone for a few days, and then will try to Finnish it next week.

The door cars will also be replaced.I will upload pictures like last time on my picasa.

Any documents on the seats or where the screws, bolts are ....... would be more than welcome, or any tips too !!!!

always the manual.

also take a few pics. will help puthing all back and with a few words may help some one follow in a download..

Thanks for that detailed close up of the horribly stained seat squab - I just barfed my brekky up :lol

i think the whole job is pretty interesting, seat/interior trim swaps have been discussed before and from a 2002 T2 to a mistral has to be the most 'extreme' change of seat you can do. Unless of course you are fitting lwb seats in a swb, now that would be impressive.:thumbs

not boring at all, if you do a search this question has been asked recently! - Keep at it :thumb2

It only gets really challenging when you talk about a 2002 facelift, cos as you know, the window electrics and switchgear are different and theres all sorts of pyrotechnics in the seat and headrest:augie

Job Done

I actually discover I don't have a jack and tools to change my wheel if I have a flat !!!!!

Just swapped the passenger seat, fit perfect and takes a few minutes.

The Driver seat do not fit the passenger side by the way (please don't ask 1) :doh

One problem..... where the airbag plug go to the new seat ? I can 't see it under the new seat !

Did you have airbags on your 96 seat? I'd be surprised? I think you'll find its gash now and you need to VERY CAREFULLY protect and insulate the connector.

PS have you looked behind the little panel on the l/h side of the boot wall for your jack?

Yes I have an airbag for sure (Japanese import are great)

Any way I can plug it in ?

Is the airbag can come on while driving and how do I insulate it ? or make it secure.... I need to go to work in 5min.

Let me get this straight....cos as far as I know the Terrano II seat didn't have airbags until the facelift MkIV* (2002 onwards) came along, when it acquired side bags and active head restraints....are you saying that your Mistral had airbags in the seat?

So it depends what model your seats are from.

If they are from a MkIV then they will have airbags/active head restraints and will have little labels saying so, stitched to the side of the seat and the headrest, but I very much doubt the connectors will relate back to the Mistral unless you are very lucky.

let us know....

(* the only caveat to that statement is I am not sure about leather interiors....my 2002 MkIV does have airbags etc.. but my wife's 2002 MkIII doesn't, but she has an SE+ with leather so don't know if that was an issue that prevented their use?)
