Hi All.
Trying to pre-empt my MOT due in Feb, the drivers seat belt is frayed and I think it would fail.
Is the job straight forward or do I have to be aware of anything?
Could anybody recommend anywhere that I could get a replacement?
Thanks in advance.

hi, what i was told you can do is burn the fray off with a lighter..

take them out the car just in case!

Would it still pass an MOT?

if you mean its furry, then its probably subjective on the day....obviously if its cut its a different matter and theres no leeway.

As zippy says, if you can get rid of the most obvious stuff with a VERY quick pass from a small flame, it might help....or try a Bic razor for a safer approach?

I've often tidied up frazzled seats with such a device. :augie

i had the same thing with our truck, tester said adjust the seat belt with a lighter :lol it will save you changing it, i like his thinking, job was done in 15 seconds, i just pulled the belt out as far as i could and ran the lighter along it, jobs a good'un. :lol:augie

If the belt is frayed then it starting to get worn which = a weakness, that's the reason they fail them, not because of cosmetic appeal.

A simple question what's a life worth if not yours, someone else driving your vehicle ??
