So, on my 2005 SVE I have the stunningly frustrating BirdView system, which doesn't support postcode search, is rubbish with ETAs, and stopped being updated in 2013...

Rumour has it that the SatNav fitted to the post 2010 models however does have postcode functionality, still gets updates and generally works better.

Can anyone confirm this, and has anyone looked at the feasibility of fitting the later SatNav Unit?

It will not give you postcode entry but I got an updated map disc for our 54 plate Jeep online on e-bay cost £24.99 not only did it work OK it also updated my Nav Software. Included Europe so handy for our France trips.

I generally find the manufacturer fitted Sat Navs & Stereo's frustrating. (Saying that I had an 04 X-Trail and it's Sat Nav did allow Post Code entry!)

Have you considered something aftermarket. Maybe something with Apple/Android Car Play?

I just use my Samsung Galaxy S7 running Google Maps as a Sat Nav.

Easy - peasey - lemon - squeezy!!!

Works really well until you get to a destination in the middle of nowhere and need to put another destination in when you've no 3G and it's useless!!!! :doh

I always carry my Garmin as a backup

My old garmin rules (not actually sure who's it is :D), especially since Banshee showed me it has Wales on it :lol

Err, it downloads the area map and stores it. Plus I've always got a good idea of where I am and always have a map in the vehicle.

:D

Paper Map is a must, Getac is usually with me too which has whole UK 25k OS Maps and Garmin on too, I rarely find myself lost but Google Maps in the sticks is crap
