I got tomtom/navigon/copilot/ios maps and a few more on my iphone, cost me nothing as I jailbroke it, and installed instalous (which takes about 5 mins)
tomtom is as good as a proper tomtom
OK, re-think on the question. I don't have a smart phone nor does the person who will be using this. So - when buying and over the counter sat nav device for £100 max, which would you recommend! acurate directions and simplicity of use are the main criteria - thanks again :thumb2
as i said walk into Tesco, ask for there cheapest one, simples
but what if their cheapest one is crap? :nenau

Says he with no smart phone :lolluddite :augie
Bit of a bugger in traffic though, having to stop and make sure your on the right route.
With a sat nav you can miss a turning or take a wrong exit on roundabout and it will just re-route.
I love sat navs :thumb2
