thats looks an easy one to repair, lucky fella there normaly worse than that. :thumb2

okee dokee, i'll get that sorted then i think i'm gonna waxoyl all underneath, now where did i put that soldering iron? :jesterbg

on the bright side, looks like theres plenty of tread on your tyre :thumbs

you realize of course. once paulllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyy visits this thread . he is going to be soooooooooo disappointed....

he as you will all be aware , is "THE RUSTY HOLE GURU" on this and many other not so clean web sites

is paul into rusty holes then colin, like the rusty "sheriffs badge" pmsl:doh

ok spoke to a welder bloke and he says where the hole is won't effect the mot as its not on the main body work it's on a like fin of metal away from the chassis where the seat belt is connected :nenau

wrong that oblong disc is the seat belt mount its too close to it that is excessive corrosion (a hole) just get some rust eater clean it up fill it and underseal the inner arches . you might even fill the hole with underseal
if its sticky they wont go near it and its not a big hole . it 'll last the year then if it gets worse then weld it.

thats all id be doing

may aswell get it welded now, this truck is starting to turn into a money pit :(

only if you let it be .its a tiny hole. its a nothing . but penetration of rust . is excessive and yours is in an mot fail place . just bloody treat the rust fill it and underseal it . itll prob fix it long term anyway might never need welding

christ look you could get it welded today un necessarily it could be stolen blow up or crash it tomorrow . its an old truck only fix what really needs fixing then you dont have a money pit

Get it welded, you know it is there, the rust could be more extensive, and a crack in metal will put greater strain at the edges and weaken it.
MOT rules are there for a reason, clearly safety.
Try folding a piece of paper and put a slight tear on the fold, now pull the paper apart, now try it without the tear... I rest my case.

OR hide it and think who will be sitting behind you when you skid on ice and hit a tree, when the anchor point tears out of the body and the person behind hits you at only 30 mph .

Do it now it's sorted.
Do it next year and it will be worse and cost more. but don't let anyone sit behind you. In fact remove the seat and belt on that side. Their life is in your hands.:doh

Oh and don't forget to tell any other driver in case they are out and about in it.

To be fair, I would probably do the same, :augie

OK best compromise, send it for an MOT as it is and wait for the advice from the MOT test station, what do you think they might say ?

Let them decide, their responsibility.
Then you can sleep at night.:nenau

How much is a re-test compared to the weld job :nenau

they will have no choice but fail it, and once they have seen it you have no choice but get it welded :nenau

I don't think you are going to be happy unless you get it fixed properly so just let the MOT test sort it out :thumb2
