Bit boring and probably covered a hundred times... kind of a review of a product ive not used before aswell. ive started to prep my truck to rust proof ready for the winter and thought i would share.

Spent about 3 evenings and a friday afternoon preping the underside, mostly scraping and wire brushing previous rust proofing off and treating rust patches etc etc you know the drill..

This is the dinitrol kit, cost £128. seems well thought out and comprehensive, includes aerosol tube and shults gun tube extension for applying cavity wax inside chassis etc etc.

Going to use the aluminium foil to mask up as it was the easiest thing i could think of to use other than cling film. cling film dont work very well foil seems awesome though:lol always check with the cook before taking tin foil to avoid the "is that the tin fool out of my kitchen" saga...i didnt!!

aerosol is rust converter, ML is cavity wax, 4941 is black underbody protector.

gun that came with kit has a natural up swept nozzle which helps when spraying to keep paint in an upright position..

the rust treating aerosol comes with this attachment for spraying inside cavities. very useful.

well thats where i am now will post pics as i go. painting tomorrow hopefully..:thumbs

That wrapping of everything reminds me of Nick from "My family" or of Mr Bean, when he wrapped even the door knob, and then set of an explosive in a tin of paint.

Seems I need to watch some of you guys, I might have to redo mine anyday lol...:augie

Looking great, most of the work is in the preparation.

Rustic

With the back bumper off it looks really clean there, has it been resprayed?
Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the product.

Yes the previous owner had all over body paint around two years ago.

update, took a couple of weekends to finish but here are the results.

i went over every inch underneath and scraped and cleaned everywhere first and i'm not going to lie it was a crap job but essential for good results.

so i rust killed everything i could see even light surface rust signs, scraped any underseal off the floor that looked as if it could be covering rust but only about four or five tiny surface rust areas could be found so treated with rust kill and covered.
sills are good, looks like one repair has been done on the rear at some stage but all good, now filled with cavity wax.
on the whole the underneath is in really good shape for a 16 year old truck but was at that stage where the work wanted doing before it became rough..
i am really pleased with the results and really glad i did it, well worth while.

the dinitrol kit is great however the patrol is big and i had to order 2 extra cans of the black wax, and in my opinion too much cavity wax in the kit.
highly recommend though.

Well done:clap:clap:clap

You must have so much patience to do that kind of job, hope I can make half as good a job of my project terrano.

whilst the bumper was off i treated the rear overhang and painted, then cavity waxed.

Radfo, these are my newly reconditioned set ready to be installed once I decide on a new set of springs. you can have the valving in them set up to suit your needs whether it be towing or offroading. I have a new set of pistons so I can have the old ones reconed at some point

Lovely job there matey!!!!

Really excited to get mine done as it's my next major job on my ever growing list :lol

Really prolongs the life of the car and stops any nasty welding jobs for the future :thumb2

I did my Terrano with dinitrol I think it was recommended in practical classic magazine as best buy.
I shot blasted my chassis back to bare metal then primed it, & 2 top coats in black left it to set then put the dinitrol on.
This was almost 12 months ago & so far I am very pleased with it.

Neat looking Underbody treatment !!

That looks really thorough.
I had the guy at work use the MB underbody treatment on my Jeep it makes the steelwork look kind of blue its a body Shultz for bodywork warranty repairs.
