Prevention is better than cure.
That is some serious rust on a 9 year old vehicle.
There must be a reason:nenau
Do you know the history, for example is it an import?
How long have you had it?
Poor paint, blocked drains, poor underbody protection, salt water immersion!
To be that bad, it must have been visible for well over a year.
When did you first notice it?
The problem is... once you even see a bubble, it usually means there is a pin hole, so time to do something about it then.
Then often you see little radials coming out from a stone chip, on investigation, these are not usually perforations... yet... ! but if you scrape them out, they do go a long way. You can treat them knowing it is only on one side.
On yours, you have perforations, and you also need to get inside the wheel arch too.
It's as if there is no protection there, as some imports designated for other countries have a lower spec protection.:doh
I would guess that the seam is also badly corroded, as it expands, allowing more water ingress.
Not normally seen on modern vehicles so young
