running temp of 2.7 tdi

whats your temp gauge sit at during driving:nenau
mine dont seem to go above 1/4 of the way up the gauge and the heater aint too hot.
gonna get a new thermostat fitted to see if that will help.

just above 1/4, used to be about half before i got a load of stuff fixed. as for heater, thats very nice and warm/hot, so im not worried about the temp gauge yet...

I had that problem till i changed my water pump so i would say drain ya water & refil with anti-freeze ready for winter & change ya thermostat & rad cap :thumbs

Then ya gauge shouldn't go above half :thumbs

cheers for the replies.i think it cos i'm so used to driving the petrol which ran at around the 1/2 way mark.not too worried as the truck runs fine just curious is all.:thumbs

we was sat in traffic at blackpool illuminations last night from about 730 to about 1030 covering about under 2miles and the temp never went above 1/4 and the heater seems to be ok temp wise but not hot like most cars lol

They seem to run a bit on the cool side. I fitted an 88 degree stat which has made a big difference on mine. However the original 82 degree wasn't in such good shape so may be a standard 82 dgree would of been better. Not sure I'd like to tow with the 88 degree as the extra load may cause it to get a bit on the hot side.
If your heater is cool try changing the pollen filter, see the downloads section.

mine normally runs at around a quarter mark , it only ever goes up to halfway if pressing the loud pedal uphill for example , but quickly goes back to a quarter :thumb2

when i'm fully loaded tugging the trailer with all the camping gear it still never went above 1/4 but the heater just seems a bit naff.i put an 88 degree stat in the petrol and that ran fine.for what they cost i might get one of each and see how it goes.:thumbs
