Yep Rivnuts... I have the tool for putting them in, if you don't want to go to the hassle of buying one, I could bring it down when we do the head!!!!:lol
Thank's Clive, when you planing on coming down? Rick
I still need to order the head gasket set, but was waiting on your news on your cylinder head... I didn't want to harass you.
OK better get on it tomorrow, and pull the injectors to have a look see, but not sure about No 1 as with the wire a "special tool" is needed, but not looked at it in detail as yet, but do not forget it is a Slindon Sunday comming, Rick
Some are called nutserts. or even clinch nuts.
I fitted some M8 ones without a tool...
This is how.. well for M8 anyhow...
take a long M8 bolt, run a M8 nut up the thread, then a washer, then insert the bolt into the nutsert, or rivnut, until all the thread of the nutsert is engaged, insert the nutsert into the hole, then hold the bolt head so that the thread doesn't rotate in the rivnut, and tighten the M8 nut which will then compress the nutsert. When compressed enough, slacken the nut, then withdraw the bolt. In fact, if you can get to the inside, after insertion, and he thread is long enough, you could put a lock nut on the underside to stop it turning whilst you tighten the nut.
Simples...
Do not allow the bolt to turn in the nutsert thread whilst compressing with the nut. OR the thread could strip in the nutsert.
rick iv got the special tool to remove no1 injector happy to drop it down to you mate
what he said. no need for special tools. you just need three hands.
if you need a picture of a home made tool give us a shout.
The rivnut tool is very much like the tool you use for fixing to plasterboard, Fastbrolly I think they are called, like this
