Got a load of 50 diameter 4mm wall tube from work which was being scrapped so I decided I would fabricate some rock sliders.
Was hoping to get them trial fitted this afternoon before I weld them up but it's been raining all afternoon so that ended that.:lol

Nice, a set of those are next on my list.
Tying them back to something solid is the hardest bit to work out.

I'm tempted to weld them straight to the chassis rails.
Just need some dry weather for that as I have no garage to work in :(

Looking a bit like femanine side steps to me :lol:lol:lol

Something you need to get off your chest there:augie:augie

Very nice, but think I would be making some brackets to bolt them on, once something like that is permanent it could hamper future repairs, Rick

Good point.
I was going to use the original mounts on the chassis that the side steps bolt to in the centre to get the position then make some heavy duty mounts out of 10mm plate that clamp around the chassis.
That way I can still take them off.

Did a bit more in between down pours on the sliders.
Trial fit so I can get the position of the mounting brackets.
That's as far as I got :lol

Not looking too shabby mate. I'll be interested to see the mounting points

I wonder... as you have several lengths to hand, what if you put cross pieces in linking side to side, making a ladder type construction, that way, if you really go hard onto rocks, you wont bend the brackets or try to twist the chassis.

Or would it get in the way of the rear prop shaft...
Something like this...

Make jacking / lifting points then too.

To be honest I've not looked if that would be possible. Front and centre mounting points are just behind the original cross members. Could maybe fit one at the rear but like you say would have to make sure it doesn't foul the prop.
I'm clamping them around the chassis rails using these.
10mm plate with 50x50 4 mm box section. Going to add a gusset top and bottom for more strength. The back plate is also 10mm with holes to suit these.

Look good mate :thumb2
Just had mine done and sprayed them in stone chip which gives them a nice non slip textured finish, I know you will probably be powder coating them :augie

Cheers mate.
Yep powder coating them in a fine textured satin black :thumb2

Looking great Elty :thumb2

Really want to get some sorted out for the Trol, even more now!

After trial fitting and some head scratching I decided I didn't like how I had cut the angle on the sliders so I started again :lol
Mk II in progress :thumb2
Let's see if I like these when they are done :nenau:lol:lol

The MK2 version gets a big:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2 from me as I like the styling of these ones which have a sort of factory look to them. Have seen a few pic's of rock sliders for US models where the outer tube is up swept slightly to also add some more protection for the sill's

That's how these fit,not level like the standard ones.

The almost finished one is a bit of a cut and shut job and needs a couple of gussets adding and the joins on the tube fettling up a bit more, the second one will be alot easier and neater now I have got all the dimensions sorted.
