Cant see it as there to protect 'soft' sills. Imagine fixed to frame well
so car lifts around obstacle.

my chrome steps look very tough..

so what are sliders then realy just stronger steps??

They may 'look' tough!!

Slidders are welded to the chassis so you can litterly slide over any obstical protecting the vehicle. They can also be used for jacking.

The 'bling' steps are normally only there to support the weight of the occupants of the vehicle while stepping in.

Rock sliders are to prevent damage to the vehicle when the going gets tough. They are normally constructed of heavier gauge material and bolted/welded to the chassis.

Edit... NNMan beat me to it

so could steps be tough enough as mine have landed on some
biggesh rocks and not moved. know others have fell off on same
abuse.

guess i could further strengthen them, adding hilift points too.
tbh cant remove them as mrs stands on them to fasten kids
in.

Our sidesteps are stainless steel with the same bolts, and have had some real bad knocks, still going stong but as said think we will be making some out of 3x3 box and weilding them on just to be on the safe side.

It's on our to do list, which is about as long as a piece of string at this point.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm really after buying a set cause me and welding ...well...err pigeon and poo come to mind! :?
If anybody gets to make some I'd be interested 8) HB doing anything like?
Just need some proper well 'ard steel sliders to bolt on. None of your side step stuff or bling ta . I did have some on my Toyota surf but they bent to bits in no time. Funny thing was I dont remember ever actually "stepping" on them
