Hi need a change

April may Time, going to buy a newer T2. Not sure what I want under £5000

What year does the Road tax change on newer 4x4 reg, less than 2003?? If so might look for a good condition low mileage 2001 / 2003

Mine still runs ok 97/98 But getting tired. not sure if I want to spend monie on the old lass she owes me nothing.never let me down just feels old,I have had the T2 7 Year, and been a member 7 year. I could buy someone elses problems but cars are a gamble. I can wait till the right T2 comes a long. If anybody see's a good one let me know.

when i looked at taxing our 52 plate, the parkers site said was 400 plus,
but seems to the threat to up the tax has been frozen and as said
is still 'only' £260.

really dont get how a new car with same engine tech can suddenly
be so much more just because was built after a certain date, ok might
be dirtier than some £35 a year shopping trolley, but cant be more than
same vehicle, which after all being older could be kicking out more....

atleast seen sense for now,

What I can't seem to work out is where they get the info from. Is the tax band set when the vehicle is manufactured or is there a way of updating it. Is it for the individual car or is just one tested and rest assumed the same based on design? My thinking is perhaps arguing the banding as the emissions test on my 'other' car is well below MOT standard so maybe could save money?:nenau
Bit like arguing the council tax on the house!

no sorry doesnt work like that basicly cars older then 2001 r classed by engine size cars after 2001 car classed by the amount of co2 it produces so if you have any car which was made through from say 96 to 2005 i.e terrano 11 then when they bought in this new tax system in which was round 2001 they could not in force the older cars so there is a cut off so the 2.7tdi used through out the age range will be in two tax classes hope that helps:augie

yes got that bit but when was my vehicle tested for the amount of co2 it produces? :nenau
(I am referring to my 2001 vauxhall zafira not my 97 maverick just for argument sake!)

will the CO2 code be on the log book? mine is too old to check 1994

QUOTE
The rates shown only apply to cars that have been type approved in category M1 and registered on the basis of CO2 emissions measured in grams per kilometre (g/km) driven. These details are shown on the registration certificate (V5C).

Your other cars engine was tested before it went in to production so it could be placed in the right tax cat so your car and very 1s car has not been tested just the very 1st in that model range hope that's helpful sometimes I need more info so I can answer ur question better :thumb2
