I need them for fitting rails to my Hyundai, got the front of them anchored with big bolts, but I need to insert rivenuts in the rear, what do a need to do this? A special tool or will a rivet gun work?

Use a rivnut setting tool. It looks a bit like a pop riveter but has a threaded adapter to screw into the rivnut.
You can try setting them with a bolt and nut too, but it's a bit hard work.

Easy enough, it's what I used, it is essential when doing this method to keep the thread from rotating in the riv nut or clinch nut, use the nut and a washer to do the compession.:sly

I fitted a few M8 riv nuts to my galvanised camping trailer.

The very first time I tried using a riv nut tool, I treated it as a pop rivit, kept squeezing and.... POP the 3 mm mandrel snapped oops...:doh

So only compress the right amount... this is the difficult part.

The rivits I'll be using wouldn't be little gay ones, they ate big spider rivits
