Rev counter

Sometimes when the car is at tickover my rev counter drops to zero and the engine light comes on. The actual engine revs don't drop and the car runs fine.

If I build the revs up there is a single miss fire and all is well again.The car is in for a well overdue service on Monday so might be air filter blocked.

Any ideas?

The actual revs stay correct so not sure if engine speed or position sensor, had that go before and it went into limp mode.

What/where is the MIL light?

Oh that MIL light ;O)


yes when the gauge drops to zero the light comes on.

Have you tried retrieving the code, it should have stored it in the ecu.

It's on my to do list ;O).

Car's in the garage on monday for new water pump and a service , hopefully that might sort it out. If not I'll check the code.
