Y60 2.8 got a bouncy rev counter. Sometimes it goes all the way to max. I've had the instrument cluster out and no obvious breaks on the solder that i can see. Read alot about resoldering everything to fix it. Also google searches suggest the fact the needle is moving (and sometimes workingish) means the sensor itself is okay.

Wondering if anyone on here has any experience of this n what they did to fix it? (tried a search first ant threw nothing up)

thought I would bump this for you as I have no experience specific of the Y60, I can only suggest what you have tried but look at the joints with a high power glass, Rick

I've owned 14 y60 and the only easy cure was put another one in or ignore it. Asked a electronics guy to look at one once and had no joy.

Speedo & Revcounter fault

On my r3mR it was a terminal in the dashboard block connector took ages to find it and my fix was to use switch cleaner in the female half.

It fixed it but a decent bump in the road could make it stop working for a few seconds. I lived with that until I parted with the truck. I suspected a broken wire in the loom where the connector block was.
