my 03 2.7TDi is getting hard to start, warming the gloplugs twice seems to sort it, so I'm guessing they are dying. Are they easy to replace? If not, what should I expect to be charged?

Hello baskie,

It’s not hard to change the glow plugs; it entails removing the intercooler, which is held on with 4 nuts and 2 hoses. Then remove the buzz bar along the top of the plugs, the plastic covered nuts on these may be your only problem as they tend to break up rather than undo but a pair of vice grips will overcome any stubborn ones and the new plugs will come with new nuts on that will replace the existing ones without any problem.
Once the buzz bar / electrical connections are removed then it’s just a case of unscrewing the old plugs and screwing in the new, do not over tighten the plugs as they are fairly fragile and will break off.

If i remember correctly there is something in the downloads section on testing glow plugs and part way through shows how to access them, manual 5 or 6, to my recolection.
