Oil is leaking onto my nearside rear brake (95 Maverick 2.7 TD), so I assume the oil seal needs replacing. Easy DIY job?

There are quite a few posts on this, it may not be just the seal.
The bearing could have gone as well, have a search for posts on rear wheel bearing. There was one running a couple of weeks ago.
You may need a special tool to remove the bearing and shaft.
Also check it isn't brake fluid.
Good opportunity to replace the rear diff oil, 2.9 litres special LSD oil required.
The gear oil has a very distinctive smell.
best regards, Rustic

not to bad a job to do,can be done at home with basic tools and will take 1 -2 hours.one of the main reasons for failure belive it or not was when these were made they machined out the axle tube they never got rid of the swarf and after a while it damages the seal,i spent 2 years at nissan doing nothing but terrano and this was a common problem.

Thanks, chaps. I've found the doc in the downloads section now, too. Looks reasonable.
