I though I would mention here what I did in case it helps someone save lots of cash like I did.
My steering pump became noisy a few weeks ago, I don't think it's a big issue but i like my bits to work as they should. Eventually, probably it would collapse and seize and knowing my luck would be when I'm in France on holiday!
Fleabay sells re-con pumps for about £150 - millers looks cheaper at around £150 and I'm guessing that Nissan would be nearer £300
I removed and stripped down the pump - it's actually quite an easy (but messy) job. i replaced the bearing (£4 from any good bearing shop) and re-built it.
Stand alone job i recon i could do it in about 2 hours.
