Is this a bitch of a job? Do you have to take the whole door card off ? If so what holds the door card on apart from the obvious srews?

REPLACING A WING MIRROR

HI Calimero.
Not sure but would say you would need to remove door card its ,not a big job .
bolt in door handle, clips around door card ,use a paint scraper or simular.
and ease door card away. if you have electric windows be aware that when door card comes away the window electric cable comes away with door card so an extra pair of hands would come in handy.
there is a electric connecting plug ,disconnect and card is then free.
(dont forget to re connect plug.)
ON another tack what is wrong with your mirror .there is a repair prosedure on the club site which involves replacing the pivot post.
with a drilled bolt .

hi Ian ,
Thanks for coming to my rescue. yes it is the pivot post that's broken. it would be useful to repair it 'cause i could then keep the replacement mirror that i've bought as a spare. I'll have a look at that download though i must say that i did look but couldn't see anything. I obviously wasn't looking hard enough!

hi Calimero.
just did a search nd cae up with this from terranokid.

If you ever snap a mirror off of its mount they can easily be repaired by tapping the casting inside the mirror with a 16mm tap then you can bolt the two halfs back together with the spring and a 40mm m16 bolt (the same as they use to bolt towballs on) the hardest part is drilling a 10mm hole through the bolt to take the cables..

SOME CLUB THIS  :p .
