replacement rigid brake pipes,

hi there, can anyone help? T2 is due its mot in a couple of months time and the rigid brake pipes at the back look very corroded. I would probably fail it and I'm not a tester. Anyone know were I can get new pipes without having to spend mega bucks at my local Nissan dealer. To give a clue as to how bad the pipes are I split the cluthc damper pipe a few weeks ago trying to bleed the clutch when replacing the flexible pipe to the slave cyclinder!

Most motor factors make brake pipes up on the spot if you remove the old ones and take them in to match up. Relativley cheap.

i replaced mind 18 month ago and thay only cost £35 for them both from nissan and thay come ready bent.

Must admit I hadn't checked nissan price. Assumed it would be very high as clutch hose was nearly £40! Looking at the state of them and my experience with the clutch pipe I doubt I'll get them off in 1 piece so the motor factor idea may be a challenge. this gives me something to work on though. Thanks for your help.

Buy a flaring kit a roll of pipe and some metric ends and you'll never need to pay for brake or clutch pipes again. They're easy to make up and the bits are relatively cheap.

I had to replace the o/s/r brake pipes & it cost £3-4 :smile: All I did was give them the length I needed & shaped it against the old one before fitting it

Hi again. thanks for advice :smile: Flaring tool and pipe kit looks a good idea. Spent happy hour on internet, seems to be plenty out there. I guess local motor factors may also stock these. Any recomendations as to good ones and right price to pay?

In the garages I used to work in we always used a skye pickvant flaring tool(think I've spelt it wrong )Sorry I don't know the price of them

Thats the ones Jace :smile: I don't know the price of them as the garages pick up the bills :lol: But they are tuff

More time on internet. At this rate I'll spend more time on that than doing the job. Machine mart have kit for arround £20. Also have vat free offer at present. Might send the wife round on Sunday! :lol:

i've got a nice 1 from i think franklin tools good bit better than them ones with the bar with different holes the wee dies and and clampy thing that screws down into it..

this 1 the body goes over the pipe then 2 metal blocks clamp down when a cap screws on then another bit screws in to form it not as good as sykes pickavant job buit lot cheaper and can do flares on the car (handy for them sheared pipe day b4 mot )
